About Bantam

Bantam can point to almost 40 years of success in helping over 5,500 customers to develop their market solutions, expand their customer base, streamline their operations, reduce their costs, and grow their business.

1969:
Tinkertronics, Bantam’s original name, is founded by A.W. Scott. The company begins as an on-site support and infrastructure company for individuals to work on their own electronic equipment.

1982:
Joined by his sons, Trey and Cliff, Scott adds electronics distribution to Tinkertronics’ services. The company quickly becomes one of the largest resellers of electronic parts in Central Texas.

1987:
To meet growing customer demand, Tinkertronics begins limited manufacturing of desktop computers.

1995:
Again, due to customer demand, the company adds custom manufacturing services.

1998:
Tinkertronics adds just-in-time inventory management services.

2002:
Tinkertronics changes its name to Bantam Electronics.
Bantam adds “blind” order fulfillment capabilities.

2004:
Michael Chaddock joins Bantam as President & CEO. (Oct.)

2005:
Bantam expands facilities to 20,000 square feet.
Bantam  begins providing high-mix electronics manufacturing services.
A key EMS customer is named to Inc.’s “Fastest Growing Companies.”
Bantam is ranked among Austin's "Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies."
Bantam is honored as one of Austin’s “Best Places to Work” by the Austin Business Journal.

2006:
Manufacturing and warehouse space doubles in size to 30,000 sq. ft.
Bantam expands high-mix electronics manufacturing capabilities to include acquisition of customer inventory, equipment and manufacturing and engineering staff.
Bantam expands testing capabilities with the addition of a free standing Environmental Testing Chamber.
Bantam is ranked among Austin’s “Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies.”

2007:
Manufacturing and warehouse areas reconfigured to allow for greater than 3x throughput. Bantam expands EMS offering with addition of NPI and Design services.
Bantam is named to Inc.’s “Fastest Growing Companies.”
